Verizon Wireless offers many phones including the popular 3G Multimedia and 3G Smartphones available for use with family wireless plans. Family wireless plans can include limited or unlimited talk minutes, texting, and data transfers for web browsing and email.
Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk Family SharePlans
Verizon Wireless family calling plans begin with limited minute plans for two phone lines. A minimum of two lines must be added to the plan to qualify for family calling, and up to three additional lines can be added for $9.99 each. Verizon Wireless offers unlimited calling on nights and weekends, as well as unlimited calling to all Verizon wireless phones for all their family cell phone plans.
Any plan purchase of 1400 minutes or more includes the Friends and Family service for 10 phone numbers. Friends and Family refers to unlimited calling for 10 phone numbers that are chosen and shared by the family. Each family plan has 10 numbers, not each phone on the plan. The numbers chosen can be any mobile or landline number, but should not be a Verizon Wireless number because with these calling plans, you already enjoy unlimited calling to Verizon Wireless customers. These should be the top 10 numbers your family collectively would call, but can be any numbers you choose.
- Nationwide Talk Family SharePlan 700: Includes 700 minutes to share between all phones in the plan for $69.99 for the first two lines. Additional minutes are charged $0.45 each. Upgrade to unlimited text on this plan for and additional $30, or a total of $99.99.
- Nationwide Talk Family SharePlan 1400: Includes 1400 shared minutes for use by all phones in the plan for $89.99. Additional minutes are $0.40 each. This plan is enhanced with the Friends and Family service. Add unlimited texting for $30 for a total of $119.99.
- Nationwide Talk Family SharePlan 2000: Includes 2000 minutes shared by all the phones in the plan for $99.99. Overages are charged at a rate of $0.35 for each minute. This plan also includes the Friends and Family service for up to 10 phone numbers. Unlimited texting can be added for $30 for a total of $129.99.
Verizon Wireless Unlimited Family Calling Plans
Unlimited calling plans are ideal for larger families and families that need more minutes than a limited plan can offer. More families are deciding to use mobile phones exclusively, eliminating the home landline, and unlimited plans ensure that these families will never experience large bills for overage expenses. Like the limited plans, the unlimited family plans must have a minimum of two lines added to the plan. Up to three additional lines can be added for $49.99 each.
- Nationwide Talk Family SharePlan Unlimited: Plan includes unlimited calling with no overage charges. A separate texting plan and data transfer plan must be purchased, or you can pay for each text and each MB of data transfer as the service is used.
- Nationwide Talk and Text Family SharePlan Unlimited: Includes unlimited calling and unlimited texts for every phone line on the plan. A separate data transfer plan must be purchased, or use a pay as you service for each MB of data transfer used.
Verizon Wireless Text Plans and Data Packages
If you would like to simply talk on your Verizon Wireless cell phone, and chose a talk plan only, you can add additional text and data transfer plans, or merely pay for each use. This option is perfect for families and couples who do not need an unlimited texting or web browsing plan, but would still like the option to text or use a web browser if needed. Texts are charged at $0.20 per text message. A text message sent to multiple recipients is charged per recipient. Separate texting plans can be purchased as follows: 250 text messages for $5, 500 text messages for $10, or 5,000 text messages for $20. Web is a separate charge of $1.99 per MB of data transfer, or can be purchased separately for $9.99 for 25 MB of data transfer, or $29.99 for unlimited data transfer. The unlimited data plan must be purchased with any 3G Smartphone purchase. Consider unlimited texting and data transfer plans carefully, as charges per text and per MB add up quickly, especially on a family plan when you may not know exactly what the other family members are doing.
Verizon Wireless Early Termination Fees and Cell Phone Family Plans Restrictions
Verizon Wireless, like many cell phone service providers, offer deep discounts for the purchase of a phone when a contract for service is signed. These discounts come with strings attached. The termination fee ranges from $175 to $350 per phone line depending on the type of phone chosen and the length of the original contract.
An activation fee of $25 to $35 is charged for each phone line added to the plan, but this fee is often waived during peek sales times. A fee of $1.99 will be charged by Verizon Wireless per line for a detailed billing statement, which is a charge of $7.96 for the average family of four just to see a statement. Other additional charges are the Federal Universal Service Charge of 12.9 percent per line, a Regulatory Charge of $0.13 per line, and a Monthly Administrative Charge of $0.83 per line.
These charges are from Verizon Wireless and are not federal taxes or fees. Additional taxes, tolls, and surcharges may be added to the bill, in addition to those previously stated, and vary by location. These additional fees can add from 5 percent to 39 percent to the total bill.
