AT&T FamilyTalk Limited Minute Cell Phone Family Plans
AT&T customers can choose from several family calling plans to meet the needs of their families. Each calling plan with limited minutes includes Rollover, unlimited night and weekend calling, and unlimited mobile to mobile calling, which refers to unlimited calling to other AT&T customers only.
Plans with 1400 monthly minutes and above have the added feature of A-List, which is AT&T's version of the Verizon Wireless Friends & Family service. The AT&T A-List service for FamilyTalk wireless plans includes ten phone numbers. These top ten numbers are shared by the family, each phone line does not get its own list, and calls to and from the numbers on the list do not count toward the plan limits and restrictions. These ten numbers can be any phone numbers including wireless phones and landlines.
To be eligible for family wireless service, a minimum of two lines must be added to the contract, and up to five additional lines can be added for $9.99 per month. Overage charges range from $0.35 to $0.45 per minute depending on the plan chosen. An activation charge of $36 for the first line and $26 for each additional line will be charged, and a contract of two years is required. Text messages are charged $0.20 per message sent, or packages can be purchased separately for a monthly fee ranging from $5 to $30. Data transfer plans for email and web surfing are also available for an additional monthly fee ranging from $10 to $45.
- FamilyTalk 550: Includes 550 minutes for up to three phone lines to share. The first two lines are $59.99. A third line can be added for $9.99. This family wireless plan is not eligible for the A-List service.
- FamilyTalk 700: Includes 700 minutes to be shared by all lines included in the cell phone plan. A maximum of five wireless phones can be added to the plan. The first two lines are $69.99 and additional lines are $9.99 each.
- FamilyTalk 1400: Includes 1400 minutes shared by the family for a cost of $89.99 for the first two lines. Up to five additional lines can be added for $9.99 each. This family wireless plan includes the A-List service for free calling to up to ten numbers.

AT&T Unlimited Minutes Mobile Wireless Service
With free mobile to mobile minutes to other AT&T customers, rollover, and the addition of the A-List, unlimited wireless plans are not necessary for every family. However, an unlimited service plan is more cost effective than overage charges for families who spend more time on their wireless phones calling more than numbers than can be accommodated by mobile to mobile and the A-List.
An activation fee of $36 for the first line and $26 for each additional line, and a two year contract is required for the FamilyTalk Unlimited plan from AT&T. Additional data transfer plans can be added for $10 to $45 per month, and texting plans can be added for $5 to $30 per month.
- FamilyTalk Unlimited: Includes unlimited calling for two lines for $119.99 per month. Up to five additional lines can be added with unlimited minutes for each line for a cost of $49.99 each per month.
Whether you choose limited or unlimited calling minutes, AT&T has a family wireless plans that will suite the needs of you family. Additional features like the A-List and unlimited mobile to mobile minutes make AT&T competitive with other cell phone service providers and eliminate the need for every family to purchase unlimited calling plans.
